PINEWOOD DERBY 2014 UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

Jan 28, 2014 in Pack News and Announcements

Greetings Cub Scout Pack 32 Families.
The Pinewood Derby will be held Saturday, February 1 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the gymnasium at the East Amwell Township School. The cafeteria will be open all day with a variety of food, snacks and drinks for sale. Hot dogs, soup, chili and barbeque will be available for lunch.  Last year, Pinewood Derby concession sales helped us raise over $500 for Pack 32, which was used to help defray the cost of the derby.
We need the following donations for Saturday:
·Cases of soda or bottled water
· Desserts (cookies, brownies, rice krispy treats)
·Small individually wrapped bags of chips
·Chili, soup or barbeque in crock pots (please provide a serving spoon if possible)
We also need volunteers to help sell concessions throughout the day and to assist with set-up and clean-up before and after the races – we need your help throughout the day to make this event a success!
Mysignup page been created for donations and volunteer time slots. Please go to the mysignup list and choose an item (or items!) to donate. Then bring your items to the East Amwell cafeteria on Saturday, February 1st in the morning.  A few things to remember:
1)  All food, either purchased or brought from home, needs to be consumed in the cafeteria.
2)We will not have access to ovens or refrigeration. Drinks will be kept on ice in coolers.
3) We are able to use electricity and in the past we have had great success keeping a variety of food (soup, chili, hot-dogs, and pulled pork barbeque) warm in crock-pots.
Thanks for your help in making the Pack go! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Bear Den Leader

Thanks for making Pack 32 a great place for the boys and their Families. Good Luck.

2014 Pack 32 PWD Rules

Pit Night and check-in: This event is on Friday, January 31th at the East Amwell Elementary school Gym and will be held from approximately 7:00-8:30 pm. During this evening the boys can test run their cars on the track, make any adjustments and then have their car’s final inspections/registration/check-in and then the cars will be held by race officials until Saturday’s Race time. The goal here is to register/inspect as many cars as possible on Friday evening so that there are fewer issues for Saturday morning. If the boy’s cars are not checked in on Friday evening, they must come to registration at 9:00 am on Saturday. At no time during the testing of the cars will any side by side racing be allowed, and no computer times will be displayed. Boys should only handle their own cars during this time. We will have some refreshments available so that you can help support the pack and this PWD event.

Pinewood Derby Race Day- East Amwell School Gym Saturday February 1, 2014 The Pinewood Derby Event will be held at the EAS Gym and will begin with registration initiating at 9:00 am sharp. We encourage all to attend as this is a family event. Actual racing slots will be based on the following schedule:

Tiger Scouts- 10:00-10:45 am

Wolf Scouts- 10:45-11:30 am

Bear Scouts- 11:30-12:15 pm

Webelos 1 Scouts- 12:15-1:00 pm

AOL Scouts- 1:00-1:45 pm

Siblings- 1:45-2:30 pm

Leader of the Pack 2:30-3:15 pm

Unlimited/Open- 3:15-4:00 pm

These running times are just an estimate and will be determined by the number of boys participating the day of the event. These should be used only as a guideline so that you can plan your day. At times there are issues that come up throwing the schedule off. Please keep in mind that the purpose of this event is to encourage all boys to be present not just during their own time slots but also during all racing to support the other boys and the pack in general. If your boy has a conflict with their time slot but would like to run their car, you must contact your Den leader ahead of time and the car must still be registered during the registration period on Friday night or between 9:00-10:00 am on Saturday.

Lunch/Refreshments will be Available on Saturday. At no time will food or drinks be allowed in the EAS gym, all proceeds support the Pack. We will be following the 2014 Pack 32 PWD Rules and Regulation document emailed out month and posted on the Pack website. All final decisions will be made by the Race Day officials. Please show good Sportsmanship throughout the event and remember that this is for all our Scouts enjoyment. Thank you in advance to all those parents that are helping out on race day. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your den leader. Good Luck to all and please remember to have fun!!!
