PACK 32 WINTER CAMP-OUT @ WINNEBAGO DEC. 5-7

Nov 14, 2014 in Pack News and Announcements

HELLO PACK 32 SCOUTS AND FAMILIES,

WE ARE FAST APPROACHING THE WINTER CAMP-OUT AT CAMP WINNEBAGO (Winnebago Scout Reservation, 102 Timberbrook Road  Rockaway, NJ 07866).

Our Pack will once again travel to Winnebago Scout Reservation in Rockaway NJ for our annual winter camp-out! Don’t worry you won’t freeze! We will be sleeping in heated cabins for the weekend. Of course if you you are a hard core camper you are free to bring your cold weather gear and pitch your tent outside. We will arrive at the Reservation on Friday evening and depart on Sunday morning before 11:00 am. We will be cooking outside using the Pack’s extensive camping gear, so you don’t need to bring any cooking gear. The cost of the meals for the weekend are included in the $25/person fee.

There will be activities throughout the day on Saturday including BB-guns, hiking, games, fire building and knot tying. This is an excellent opportunity for your scout to complete the Outdoors-man activity badge.
 We have created a my-signup page:    http://www1.mysignup.com/winnebago_camp_out
The cost is $25 per person and should cover all of the expenses.
As always this is a family event and all are welcomed. Please be aware that the cabins have pot-belly stoves for heat, however please bring all the appropriate clothes for camping. Outdoor activities will be scheduled during the weekend.
We look forward to seeing you at the Camp-out.

SCOUTS FALL FOOD DRIVE: 11/8 & 11/15 @ CVS LAMBERTVILLE

Nov 3, 2014 in Pack News and Announcements

 HELLO CUB-SCOUTS AND FAMILIES,
As part of our community services, Pack 32 and Troop 49  are partnering to collect food for those in need. Particularly at this time of year, when we are so busy preparing for the holidays, its nice to take the time to help those who are not as fortunate, or are having a difficult time.  Also, WEBELO scouts need a den service project to earn their Citizenship badge on the pathway to the Webelos Badge!  AOL’s need as many service projects as they can get!  And Boy Scouts need 6 hours of service between each rank advancement.  The Food Drive also counts for your school community service hours.
FOOD DRIVE EMPTY BAG DISTRIBUTION:SATURDAY 11/8 – 9:00 AM at the CVS in Lambertville( Cherry st) to help out, please be at the CVS by 9am on Saturday, November 8th.  We will leave from there to distribute empty bags on porches throughout the community.
FOOD DRIVE FILLED BAG PICK-UP:  SATURDAY 11/15 – 9:00 AM at the CVS in Lambertville.
The following Saturday (11/15) at 9AM, we will be collecting the filled bags and dropping them off at the Lambertville Food Panty behind St. John’s Church in Lambertville.  Since we usually cannot drop off bags until Noon, we will need those with large cars to come back at Noon to pass the bags to the pantry.  PS :  And sometimes whoever is left can join together to break bread(eat) at Sneddon’s while we wait to finish at the food pantry. This has become a favorite moment!
Any questions, feel free to contact Beth Bauer, by phone (609-647-6246) or email (bethbauer@posiroi.com)
or  Jim Cally (jjcncc@netzero.com)
Thanks for your service to others!

·         ALWAYS tell your customers why you are selling popcorn

·         KNOW the different kinds of popcorn you are selling

·         ALWAYS say “Thank You”

·         ALWAYS make a copy of your order form

·         ALWAYS have a clean order form with a pen

·         BE SURE to get customer email addresses to send them a “Thank You” email after the sale,

reminding them they can re-order online.

SAFETY TIPS

·         NEVER enter anyone’s home

·         NEVER sell after dark unless you are with an adult

·         DON’T carry large amounts of cash with you

·         ALWAYS walk on the sidewalk and driveway

·         ALWAYS sell with another scout or with an adult

SCOUT script EXAMPLE:

Hi, my name is ___________, and I am with ____________. I’m selling popcorn to raise money for the things I like to do in Scouting. The popcorn is delicious and there are many different kinds to choose from. Will you please help support me? (Always say “Thank You” when you are done)

A Note About Selling Popcorn for Pack 32:

Please remember that the popcorn sale is our only fundraiser of the year.  They’ve got better prizes this year, plus the pack graduated some of its top sellers which means the pack top seller prize of $50 at the council store is up for grabs!  Also, the top seller in the den gets a $25 council store gift certificate.  A successful popcorn sale allows us to have quality gear for campouts as well as fund fun events such as the Blue & Gold and the Crossover.

The pack has a goal of $12,000 for the sale which would qualify us for higher percentage return to the pack as well as other incentives.  That may sound like a lot, but if each boy in the pack sold about $250, we’d hit it! But please sell as much as you can!

The council has also offered additional bonus prizes this year.  If you fill in your entire sheet (30 orders) and email it in to alayton@bsamail.org or fax to (215) 348-7289 by November 7th and you’ll receive a $10 Scout Shop Certificate. Please make sure your name and Pack number are legible.

Any scout who sells $600 will earn the Skylights Rocket Set in addition to his selected rewards.

Finally, any scout who sells at least $2500 within the 2014 calendar year will receive 6% of their total sales invested in their own college scholarship account! You only need to hit this amount once and the scholarship fund will continue each year!
